The DM 2/6 is the most compact model of the range and is ideal for small to medium sized rooms or any application where space is limited. Its small size also allows for easy and discreet placement on a bookshelf or sideboard.

A linear and high impedance makes the DM 2/6 easy to drive for any amplifier, while Dynaudio sound quality is guaranteed by a coated soft dome tweeter, 5.5" (14 cm) mid/bass driver and a high quality 1st order crossover.

Designed with a finely tuned bass reflex system, the DM 2/6 also offers an impressive low frequency performance for its size. Unwanted resonances are reduced by the solid front baffle and rigid cabinet, as well as by the highly rigid die-cast aluminium mid/bass driver basket.

Dynaudio DM Range – The dynamic loudspeakers

The Dynaudio DM models are cost-effective high performance loudspeaker solutions for a wide range of applications: Multi-channel and home theatre loudspeaker systems, custom installations or simply as traditional bookshelf, standmount or floorstanding loudspeakers for hi-fi systems.

The DM models employ the core Dynaudio driver technology: Extremely light aluminium wire voice coils, powerful magnet systems, light but rigid Magnesium Silicate Polymer (MSP) cone diaphragms, and the esteemed specially coated soft dome tweeter. With a high sensitivity, impedance correction, excellent long term power handling and high quality cross-over components, the DM will deliver authentic music reproduction and be compatible with virtually any amplifier. The DM models feature a rear-ported bass reflex design where the port can be damped to allow easy placement in various loudspeaker setups.

What Hi-Fi? Sound and Vision - 5 Stars - Best Stereo Speakers £300-£600 Awards 2010

A powerful and authoritative sound for such a small speaker; goes loud; well made. Dynaudio’s entry-level model is a great all-rounder – just make sure the rest of your set-up is up to the task.

It goes louder than you'd expect for a box of this size and isn't afraid of high bass levels at those extended volumes, either. Play the likes of Tinchy Stryder or Lady Gaga at party levels and these baby Dynaudios will shine.

That's not where the good news ends. Like its much-admired big brother, the DM 2/7, these monitors are fine all-rounders.

Tonally, they're well judged with just the right balance between highs and lows to make things sound even. Detail levels are also good, the speakers delivering enough insight to make even a complex piece of music such as Steve Reich's Music for 18 Musicians make sense.

Add strong dynamics, punch and a decent sense of timing to the plus points and you have a strong rival for the likes of the class-leading EB Acoustics EB1s.

If you look at the price tag, it amazes me what these small monitors can do.

... voice sounds lifelike, and the relaxing atmosphere meant by this number is present. If a speaker manages to give tranquillity, it's already very positive. Even when cranking up the volume, it shows no signs of aggressiveness.

They are all-round speakers, who shine with voices and classical instruments. The bass line is solid and pretty deep, especially for such a small cabinet.

They are a Recommended Buy because for a small budget you get a speaker that is not fatiguing, reproduces classical instruments correctly and manages to produce a sound larger than mini-speakers.

One could call the DM 2/6 a modern interpretation of a legend, with wider frequency response, higher sensitivity and a much lower crossover point.

... if you compared a few competing monitors in this price range, you’d single out the Dynaudio for being warmest. They also offer a far bigger sound that size would predict.

Even though these boxes cost less than my power cords, saxophone and trumpet caused chills down my spine. At once I also noticed excellent colors. Timbres were developed over a wide range of shades. An essential part of such a coherent presentation was surely due to the high-quality treble. Only KEF’s fantastic Uni-Q system offered the same quality treble but theirs wasn't as well integrated. The DM 2/6 tweeters were potent in a rich way.

If I were to describe the sound of these Dynaudios in a nutshell, I’d say that their tonal balance was moved towards  the lower midrange. They don't sound heavy or hooded but the designer's main focus was taking care of a proper Vocals – yes, vocals with a capital V. Because that's exactly what they achieved.

Great dynamics were a strength. So were defined punchy attacks. Those weren’t brutal but rather, slightly rounded yet powerful, confident and very well articulated. Thanks to that, Jazz wasn't the only kind of music these minis did well. The DM 2/6s also cottoned to electronica, even Tool.
