Item Description
Brand

The DM 3/7 is one of the finest floor-standing loudspeaker offerings in its price range. This latest Dynaudio DM series model features two 6.7" (17 cm) MSP (magnesium silicate polymer) mid/bass drivers equipped with large 3" (75 mm) diameter aluminium voice coils and rigid, low-resonance die-cast aluminium driver baskets. In concert with a large internal cabinet volume and a very solid 1" (25mm) front baffle, these proprietary drivers provide the DM 3/7 with the foundation for a very powerful, dynamic bass performance.

The tweeter also features renowned Dynaudio innovations: A specially-coated 1.1" (28 mm) diameter textile dome, an ultra-lightweight aluminium voice coil, ferrofluid damping and a powerful magnet. With this technology, the DM 3/7 provides a detailed and clear, yet homogenous and smooth high frequency reproduction. High quality crossover components and a rigid cabinet construction add to the value of this loudspeaker.

The DM 3/7 is suited for a wide range of amplifiers as validated by its linear constant impedance, a sensitivity rating of 86 dB and 200 W minimum long-term power handling.

Dynaudio DM Range – The dynamic loudspeakers

The Dynaudio DM models are cost-effective high performance loudspeaker solutions for a wide range of applications: Multi-channel and home theatre loudspeaker systems, custom installations or simply as traditional bookshelf, standmount or floorstanding loudspeakers for hi-fi systems.

The DM models employ the core Dynaudio driver technology: Extremely light aluminium wire voice coils, powerful magnet systems, light but rigid Magnesium Silicate Polymer (MSP) cone diaphragms, and the esteemed specially coated soft dome tweeter. With a high sensitivity, impedance correction, excellent long term power handling and high quality cross-over components, the DM will deliver authentic music reproduction and be compatible with virtually any amplifier. The DM models feature a rear-ported bass reflex design where the port can be damped to allow easy placement in various loudspeaker setups.

Dynaudio DM 3/7 Floorstanding Loudspeaker Reviews

Hi-Fi Choice (via TechRadar.com) by Paul Messenger

There is much to like about the DM3/7 ... the bass here is full, very extended and free from boom or thickening. It drives along pretty well, with good weight and scale plus some authority and while it might not match the grip or tension of larger and more costly designs, its delivery is certainly as good or better than others in its price class.

The sound quality is impressive at the top end of the band, too. The treble sounds sweet and clear and its relative level is beautifully judged, while the vital transition through the voice band from the midrange to the treble is equally well handled, avoiding any aggression yet also sounding reasonably open and very coherent. Stereo imaging is good too, at least in terms of its central focus.

While sound quality is clearly the most important part of any loudspeaker, it's by no means the only relevant factor in the overall mix of engineering compromises that make up any design. For example, the uniquely large (75mm in diameter) voice coils used in Dynaudio's bass/mid drivers have several important implications. Because they're large, cooling is relatively efficient and power handling is, therefore, prodigious.

What Hi-Fi? Sound and Vision

Volume, power and bass are beloved characteristics of the Danish company, and the DM 3/7 doesn't disappoint.

Working our way through some classical music, we're treated to impressive dynamics, the DM 3/7s delivering power and drama as required, while building a vivid, revealing soundstage.

SoundStage! Good Sound by Ron Doering

A practical loudspeaker from a company with decades of experience in design and manufacture, and a stellar reputation for excellent sound ... a listening experience that worked for me, emotionally and intellectually.

About Dynaudio

Dynaudio loudspeakers are held in the highest esteem by the recording engineers of the world’s most prominent recording studios - in fact the demanding British Broad casting Corporation (BBC Radio & Music) selected Dynaudio as the exclusive reference monitor for all of their modern recording and radio studios.

Founded over 30 years ago, when a group of engineers in Skander borg, Denmark who shared the passion for music came to the mutual conclusion that even the best loudspeakers available at the time were incapable of playing music without colouration. Phase shifts, propagation errors, distortion and poor transient response were clearly measurable and audible with virtually all loudspeakers.

From that date, Dynaudio has been dedicated to Authentic Fidelity, ambitiously setting forth to create a completely new and modern generation of loudspeakers based on their dedicated ground-breaking research. Their efforts over this time have resulted in innovative and technologically advanced developments that are at the foundation of Dynaudio’s unparalleled performance.

Innovations such as Dynaudio Directivity Control (DDC) technology have established Dynaudio loudspeakers as a sound quality reference worldwide, and over the years many different Dynaudio models have become audiophile classics: True loudspeaker legends for true music lovers.
