Not only a good-looking, good-sounding CD Receiver, at just over 28cm wide and 11cm tall, Marantz's Melody Media CR603 fits anywhere you need it to, and provides superb reproduction of an astounding array of sources to dramatically expand your musical horizons.
The CR603's connectivity enlarges your home entertainment world far beyond what you've enjoyed previously. It provides easy ways to listen to the music you've already stored on an iPhone or other portable music player, stream audio from a wide variety of sources, and enjoy music from your Bluetooth-enabled devices wirelessly with the optional RX101 module.
The 99-present AM/FM tuner boasts excellent sensitivity to pull in those weak signals. There's even an automatic preset function that programs up to 99 stations for instant recall.
The advanced disc drive accesses CDs, CD-Rs, and CD-RWs – even those encoded with MP3 or WMA files.
You'll enjoy convincing power from four ultra-efficient amplifiers that produce vanishingly little heat and, hence, provide a stable, cool environment for exceptional long-term reliability Speaker A and B mode allows for 2 pairs of loudspeakers in different rooms, or select biamp mode for double the power into a single pair of loudspeakers (60 Watt RMS x 2).
The Marantz Wizz App transfers control of the CR603 into the palms of iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch owners (Wizz App is a free download from the iTunes App Store). A beautifully designed GUI combines with an intuitive layout enabling a superbly easy way to control Marantz products via a home network.
The Airplay feature allows you to easily stream music from your iTunes collections to the CR603* with just the tap of a finger.
The CR603's Ethernet connection is DLNA (Digital Living Network Alliance) 1.5 and Windows 7 compliant so you can easily access and enjoy digital music stored on your PC. And it also connects to your home network, interfacing with other connected components while putting you in touch with a whole host of audio content now available on the web. You can also utilize third-party I/P control systems, and get firmware updates to make your system work better!
The CR603 lets you access the world of Internet streamed media through online music services, and you can choose from 1,000s of Internet radio stations with vTuner.
* The CR603 must be hard-wired to a LAN (or Wireless Bridge) in order to use AirPlay.
** Audio Streaming is only available for devices or software that are DLNA and UPnP certified.
What Hi-Fi? Sound and Vision, December 2010 - 5 Stars
A range of facilities way beyond anything else we've tested; slick design and build.
This is one slick, fully loaded little system, and it has the performance, not to mention the build quality and finish, to back up all that cleverness. Its facilities make almost everything else in this sector look a bit old-fashioned.
We tried it with everything from CDs to tracks streamed from iPods and a NAS drive, and it demonstrated speed, power and substance. It's dynamic, exciting and yet always in control, even when we threw some tracks with really seismic bass at it ... there's no denying that the Marantz is an exciting listen.

This diminutive system may look simple but its wide-ranging capabilities make it a superb buy ... an all-in-one CD/internet receiver, to which the buyer needs add nothing more than a pair of speakers.
In fact, the M-CR603 is styled like a miniature version of the company’s Reference Series products, and that means the look and feel is rather more expensive than its price-tag might suggest. Take into account the range of facilities available here, and that price begins to look even more of a bargain.
The presentation here is consistently fast, well-weighted and very open and detailed – in fact, very identifiably Marantz. The sound is above all extremely musical ... here I use it to mean that the system gets out of the way of the music, allowing you to listen to the performance.
True, it’s revealing of low bit-rate content, be it internet streamed, on the home network or fed in via an iPod, but that’s to do with encoding limitations, not those of the system. With better content, however, this system can sound quite magnificent.
Combine that with a specification so comprehensive as to make most of the immediate competition look old‑fashioned, and you have a stylish, compact system that’s remarkable value for money, not to mention being extremely enjoyable to use.
Daily Telegraph - Nov. 10, 2010
This HiFi is the first to boast compatibility with AirPlay, Apple's new wireless Music and Video-streaming technology. This means it can play content stored on your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch, as well as CDs, Napster, FM/AM and DAB radio, plas any other music device via the line-inn post.
Esquire magazine - December 2010
This mini system is the perfect foil for anyone who uses their PC to play music. Containing a digital amp, DAB tuner and CD player (just in case), this mini system access thousands of internet radio stations, and streams music via Apple’s proprietary AirPlay platform.
HET (Home Entertainment Today) Magazine - October 2010

HVT magazine - November 2010
The real all-in-one music solution ...could well be the best all-in-one music solution that can be found today. The Melody Media is a fantastic product. Decently made, packed with functionalities and sounds really good. Most impressive of all is the fact that Marantz finally integrates a proper streaming client into an all-in-one product. With the Melody Media you can welcome the future of music reproduction into your own home!
