The circuitry uses the famous Marantz HDAM-SA2’s for all channels, ensuring fast, precise and large bandwidth signal amplification. Dual HDMI outputs makes it possible to send a dedicated video, as well as a dedicated audio signal to their output source, minimize the deleterious effect on the audio and video - and reducing the signal degradation by having a shorter route and less processing.

Further on the video side, the UD9004 makes use of Silicon Realta Optix HQV processing technology, derived from professional broadcast technologies. True 10-bit processing is utilised for detail enhancement, noise reduction, pixel to pixel film mode detection, de-interlacing and scaling. The resulting picture from DVD and Blu-ray is simply astonishing.

Audio Video Revolution - All in all, you won't find a player much better than the UD9004

If you're looking for the best in Blu-ray combined with some amazing audio features, the Marantz UD9004 is the way to go.  It's one of those players that must have been a joy to create. Marantz picked the best components for their flagship universal player.

It's got a REALTA HQV video processor for the best possible playback of Blu-ray discs and upscaling of DVDs.  It handles 36-bit Deep Color, and includes 297MHz/14-bit DACs for component and S-Video outputs. The UD9004 handles audio like a champ.  It plays back Blu-rays, DVD-Audio and SACDs impeccably well, and includes a separate HDMI output just for audio.

In fact, it's one of the most talented Blu-ray players we've tested yet, chiefly because aside from its considerable movie talents, it's also a superlative music source.

And that, of course, is precisely what Marantz set out to achieve with the UD9004. Although fully fettled to meet the latest standards in Blu-ray – unlike many high-end designs, it is Profile 2.0 enabled, complete with an Ethernet port and a SD card slot to provide the necessary memory capacity for BD-Live downloads – the Marantz looks and feels more like a high-end CD player.

It's huge, its massive 19.2kg chassis dwarfing most Blu-ray contemporaries: lavishly machined slabs of zinc, copper, aluminium and steel abound, each material combining to deliver the optimum durability, stability and interference-rejection.

Every fascia button feels fit to last a lifetime's usage, and as is typical of products in this price class, the disc-loading mechanism operates in serene silence, providing eloquent testament to the thorough – and thoroughly expensive – engineering lurking within.
