  • 3600:1 contrast ratio and 1300 ANSI lumens brightness
  • Up to 5000-hour lamp life (in low mode)

The Mitsubishi Electric HC4000 high definition projector, with its native 1080P (1920 x 1080 pixel) resolution, 1300 ANSI lumens brightness and 3600:1 contrast ratio, delivers superb picture quality at an affordable price.

The HC40000 1080P projector comes equipped with all the great features you've come to expect from our Home Theatre projectors:

Latest DLPTM chip with new DMD

One of the key features of the HC4000 home theatre projector is its state-of-the-art DLP chip, which incorporates a new digital micromirror device (DMD) comprised of densely embedded micromirrors. A smaller mirror cavity diameter and narrower gaps between mirrors improves the aperture ratio of the chip for a smoother image. Reflective light diffusion is also greatly reduced, which translates to a higher contrast ratio for better overall blacks, whites and colour reproduction.

1300 ANSI Lumens Brightness - 3600:1 Contrast Ratio

The HC4000 home theatre projector uses a fixed iris, providing enhanced brightness and contrast for images. Even in a living room during the day with the curtains or blinds closed, high definition images are clear and easy to view.

1.5x Short Throw HD Zoom Lens

The newly designed short throw zoom lens in the HC4000 provides excellent focusing performance with 1.5x magnification of high definition images. The 4-cluster, 13-piece all glass lens ensures images retain their sharpness right to the edges of the screen.

Six Segment Colour Wheel and Built-in Colour Management

Video sources are reproduced with more true-to-life colours, thanks to the HC4000's six segment colour wheel. The built-in colour management function also allows users to adjust individual colours to suit their needs.

DDP3021 Full 10-bit Panel Driver

The built-in DDP3021 10-bit panel driver delivers approximately four times the gradation of 8-bit models, providing smoother dark tones.

Equipped with 5000-hour* long-life lamp

Long-life lamp
The optimum design for temperature control of the new colour light source lamp, as well as Mitsubishi Electric's unique lighting timing, have extended the useful life of the lamp to a maximum of 5000 hours.

VERDICT:  DEFINITE BUY!

Mitsubishi has taken a best in class unit, the HC3800, and made it better with the new HC4000. Colours are phenomenal for an entry level projector, with special care shown toward skin tones. Real contrast looks improved, with a slight improvement in the already impressive black level. As well, the HC4000 produces clean, accurate whites. Noise, even in full lamp mode, is barely noticeable.

A Mitsubishi hallmark has always been long term reliability, something other entry level projectors have had a hard time claiming.

This may be another Projector.com Editor’s Choice award winner.
