Item Description
Brand

Ortofon is pleased to introduce the Verto – a true dual mono transformer for low output moving coil cartridges reserved for only the most discerning audiophiles and music lovers.

The Verto takes an unrelenting approach to audio reproduction by combining the finest components available along with world class engineering, for unparalleled sound reproduction.

One of the Quietest, Most Revealing Transformers Ever Offered

Starting with exceptional quality Lundahl™ transformers, surrounded by a specialised mu-metal shielding, listeners can be assured that each detail in a complex array of notes is reproduced with utter purity, with freedom from internal and external sources of interference. These two items combined make Verto one of the quietest, most revealing transformers ever offered to the audiophile market.

Featuring dual mono design, the Verto provides discrete circuitry for each channel, resulting in the elimination of crosstalk and possible distortions. This results in cleaner, clearer reproduction with substantially increased stereo imaging. Regardless of the composition being played, the Verto’s expansive stereo separation provides lifelike realism, and accurate tonal balance devoid of coloration.

To further minimise signal degradation and maximise signal flow, the Verto has been engineered using high quality industrial grade PCB. Additionally, gold plated RCA jacks with Teflon insulation provide optimal conductivity for use with high quality interconnects. Internally, the unit is assembled with an absolute bare minimum of internal wiring, preserving absolute signal integrity.

The Ortofon Verto maintains compatibility with most Moving Coil cartridges, with internal jumpers offering two gain/impedance options. This affords audiophiles with broad flexibility while still maintaining a clean aesthetic.

FEATURES:

  • Dual mono set-up transformer
  • Internal jumpers for gain and impedance
  • Gold plated RCA connectors with Teflon insulation
  • Minimal internal wiring, high quality PCB
  • Excellent shielded due to Mu-Metal can and cabinet
  • Transformers made for Ortofon by Lundahl transformers

Dr Hi Fi Housecalls - Read full review

"A dynamic and transparent passive transformer that will add to your enjoyment of every MC cartridge that required more gain.

The quality of the parts used by Ortofon reflects it's price and it's intended use by their discerning customers.

The result is a pure and unaltered amplifier signal with the full character of your MC cartridge faithfully intact to the end. I am thoroughly pleased that Ortofon have taken the trouble and effort to invest in MC technology where others have failed.

Ortofon currently only have one MC step-up transformer in their range because with a company history as long and prestigious as theirs, they do not wish to make a compromise in this most critical part of the signal chain. The price of the Verto is justifiable and can even be considered cheap when you take into account what a high quality turntable, MC cartridge and phono stage would cost. Ortofon have really managed to achieve here what many have said for years could never be done with MC step-up transformers. This proves that just sometimes, if you through enough money at a problem, a solution will emerge."

"...melodies flowed brilliantly well, and timbral colours and textures were very good. The high-gain side of the Verto had excellent drama."
