Wherever there's an Play:3 (or any other ZonePlayer), you can listen to your entire collection of iTunes music, plus thousands of free Internet radio stations. And Sonos works seamlessly with the most popular music services so you can stream millions of songs and stations from the Internet to the rooms of your choice. You can even connect the Play:3 to your favourite audio source such as an iPod or CD player and listen on all the ZonePlayers throughout your house.
Wirelessly control all your music and all your ZonePlayers with your choice of Sonos Controllers. Got an iPhone, iPod touch, iPad or Android phone? Then, simply download the free Sonos Controller app and take control. Want a dedicated Controller that everyone in the house can use? They all work together seamlessly so mix and match to your heart's content.
The S5 brings great sounding music wirelessly to any room in your house, without a big wiring project. SonosNet 2.0, our wireless mesh network technology, provides superior wireless range for whole-house coverage, ensures synchronous music playback, and avoids sources of wireless interference. Which means the music gets to all the right rooms — near or far — at exactly the right time.
Setting up your Play:3 is incredibly easy — simply plug it in. No technical or wiring expertise required. No speakers or audio equipment to connect. All you need is a high-speed Internet connection and a router to get started. One ZonePlayer or Bridge in your system must be connected to the router and all the rest will work wirelessly. Add more Play:3s (or Play:3s) in more rooms without wires.
New features and music services with automatic updates

With free automatic software updates you'll always have the newest features and music services to enjoy. What Hi Fi? - 5 Stars - Oct 2011
Impressively musical; surprisingly full-bodied sound; disperses sound well; flexible over positioning;
The best news about the Play:3, though, is that it sounds much better than its price and size might suggest. Feed it lossless or uncompressed rips from a computer or network-attached storage device and it really shines.
The Play:3 also has an impressively consistent tonal range, so nothing sticks out more than it should ... It even senses which way it’s orientated and automatically adjusts the EQ for maximum dispersion – and this thing will fill a room far better than you might expect.
The usual Sonos qualities also continue to shine through, from excellent build, streaming from internet radio, and brilliant format support.

Likened to the Bowers and Wilkins Zeppelin the beauty of this system is that if you buy two of them you have this incredible stereo system that sounds like a $2,000 sound system.
The really big experience came when I wacked another Play 3 onto the network and paired the speakers to deliver stereo sound. Big thumping music resinated from the system with stereo sound as good as any high end sound system. Remember this is not some $2,000 system. This was two $419 wireless Hi Fi systems that simply need power to perform.
I am tipping that this product will make it onto a lot of reviewers best of best lists.
This Sonos system is going to be hard to beat because of the sub $500 price and the quality output. It's sexy because it is wireless and it interfaces with both Apple and Android Apps.

Lifechanger: Happiness is a loaded Sonos... and the biggest compliment I can pay Sonos is that it’s helped me listen to at least 10x more music than I did before, just because it’s so easy to get it delivered the way I want it delivered.

One particularly stand out feature is intelligent rotation. The Play:3 can be placed flat as pictured or in an upright orientation. The speaker actually senses the change and automatically changes the speaker profile — you don’t want a left-right distribution when left and right are vertically aligned. It’s attention to smarts like this that sets Sonos apart.
Most people have only ever heard of Sonos in passing as one of those "guys with too much money buy those" products. The Play:3 puts Sonos into the frame against the Zeppelins and the Bose SoundDock iPod solutions. And when you stack up the features of ‘high-end iPod docks’ against the Sonos feature set and extensibility (you can control a house full of Sonos devices from one, or many, different devices) it’s hard to see iPod docks maintaining the rage.
One day you’ll outgrow a speaker dock. But Sonos will always have a place in our increasingly streaming friendly future.

Sonos might be the best piece of music gear i own. I just got something that I can’t stop talking about, for two reasons: 1. because I’m appalled that I didn’t have the sense to try it out sooner, and 2. it’s literally changing the way I listen to and find new music.

Sonos is named in Top Ten Most Innovative Music Companies of 2011 for "making one of the easiest-to-use, best-sounding, affordable wireless audio systems".

This isn't a music lover's dream: it's reality. The Sonos Multi-Room Music System takes online/MP3-based music use to a new level - and it's not a wallet-burner, as audio equipment goes. And audio quality, so often the bugbear with MP3 playback, is superb. If music's important, investigate now!
