High-quality materials, a classic design and love for details are the distinctive characteristics of the TD240 fully automatic record player. The massive and stable real wood plinth provides the TD 240-2 with a timeless elegance. This record player features a precision-ground belt, an electronically controlled D/C motor and comes equipped with the high-grade tonearm TP19.1 Owing to the increased mass respectively weight of 6.5 kg as well as to the suspended chassis, the entire drive system runs extraordinarily smooth and creates an exemplary sound. The speed selector can be set to 33, 45 and 78 rpm and hence can be considered an interesting tool for all friends of vintage shellac records (the special stylus/cartridge required for 78 rpm is available separately). The fun with analogue music starts here! The Ortofon 78 Dedicated 78 RPM stylus enables all Ortofon Super OM, OM, OMP, TM, and Concorde cartridges for playback of 78 RPM records. Thorens - European Quality In the history of home audio the words Thorens and turntable are more or less synonymous. Some consider ownership of a Thorens to be a major step in becoming a 'true' audiophile. The skill and knowledge behind Thorens' beautifully-engineered, high-end audio equipment is based on over 125 years of research and development. This love of sonic reproduction is evident from their entry level turntables through to their flagship: the Thorens TD550, which retails at over $12,000 (cartridge extra!). Founded in 1883 in Switzerland, Thorens turntables are now constructed in Germany, which is evident in the build quality of each of their products. Wonderfully well-engineered, sturdily built, completely reliable, and, if the need ever arises, hard-working like real professional decks, the best Thorens turntables are a joy to own and a pleasure to use.
